Tell Studio
Tell Studio is an independent Yorkshire based film and video production company. They’re a growing collective of multidisciplinary creatives working across digital, film and TV. Their appreciation of craft and its role in communicating important stories, paired with their flexible and collaborative approach forms the basis of their original work. Tell Studio work exclusively to tell stories that have heart.
Starting out in early 2020, Tell’s founders, Lewis and Owen, got carried away over a few beers planning a series of short documentaries on the movers and shakers of Leeds. Those that were really pushing the envelope on making positive change. Owen brought the filmmaking know-how, after running his own marketing agency for a few years, and Lewis' background in sustainability and the third sector meant he had the contacts. After proving they could not only support and share the incredible stories of the region's change-makers, but also turn a profit, there was no looking back.
Tell has evolved from working almost entirely on projects for organisations and brands for a digital audience, to now also being commissioned and raising funds to produce their own creative work for film, TV and digital audiences. This means Tell Studio can now champion stories that might otherwise not have been told. It means they can take risks and produce films that make an impact.
They’ve also become a leading figure in bringing together Leeds' creative community as the founding member of The New Monday (a monthly free breakfast networking and speaker session) alongside Leeds City Council, Channel 4, The LEP, Wise Owl Films and We Are the Allies.
Tell Studio wants to continue to champion important stories about those at the core of things that matter today. But, they know they can also continue to push the boundaries of how they go about telling these stories. Growing as a team in numbers and also creatively, Tell Studio intends to build on and establish new relationships with other creatives and organisations across the region - looking for opportunities to collaborate on increasingly exciting and significant projects. In a year or two, the business is hoping to release their first feature-length project!
